Lourdes water is precious! Between February 11 and July 16, 1858, the Virgin appeared 18 times to Bernadette Soubirous. During her 9th apparition, she follows the indications of the Virgin and discovers a source of water at the foot of the cave of Massabielle, in Lourdes. “Go drink at the source and wash yourself there”, this is what the Virgin Mary asked Bernadette Soubirous. This invitation is addressed to each of us; Lourdes water is not to be confused with holy water. The popularity of Lourdes water is born of miracles (49 out of 67 official miracles and so many others not recognized), are directly linked to its use either in application, or in ingestion, or in bath. In the Catholic faith, through the natural elements and the sacraments, it is always God who heals, through the intercession of the Virgin Mary and the prayers of Christians. This water is therefore a sign, not a fetish. Bernadette Soubirous said herself: “We take water as a medicine ... We must have faith, we must pray: this water would have no virtue without faith!”.
